Abstract
The book annotation is the secondary genre of speech, with pragmacy and brevity as key features. The present day importance of blurb for publishing business is quite essential, because due to the tight competition of great amount of publications, the direct influence of particular publisher upon each potential customer is of utmost importance. Currently, the authors of blurbs aim to attract reader’s attention, make him interested, amaze or even shock him. Present-day blurbs belong to the genres of mass literature and - equally - to the genre of advertising. Therefore, the use of certain speech strategies and tactics is an essential component of such annotations. This article presents the analysis of these tools of influence upon reader/customer.
