Abstract

Peroxidation of the lipids in the blood plasma and erythrocytes is not responsible for the state of erythrocyte membranes in rats with alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus. Administration of a-lipoic acid for development of alloxan diabetes in rats leads to metabolic activity in the blood and essential change in morphology of erythrocytes investigated with atomic force microscopy.
