Abstract
The article covers Italy’s policy during the final stages of World War II and first postwar years. Its aim was to bring the Italian colonies in East and North Africa occupied by the United Nations forces back under the control of Italy. This problem was discussed at the Potsdam Conference in 1945, in sessions of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the United Nations General Assembly. This policy pursued by the Italian government headed by Alcide De Gasperi resulted in Italy’s retrieving trusteeship of the colony in Somalia.
