The influence of the increased pressure in the blast furnace onto the progress of reduction processes and gas dynamics of the process was analyzed. In case there is some reserved capacity of the air blower and there are possibilities to increase the top and the low differentials, the increase of the top gas pressure leads to the growth of the blast furnace production capacity and diminishes CO utilization at the stage of iron reduction from wustite due to the downturn of the time during which the burden stays in the isothermal zone. However, the prevailing influence on coke consumption rate is that of the heat losses diminution which accompanies the productivity growth. The positive influence of the top gas pressure increase is clearly shown by the operation of NLMK blast furnaces.
