Abstract
Different scientific approaches to the study of volunteering as a social phenomenon are being presented in the article. The main goal of the research is to discover the essence of volunteering as an object of sociological research. The classification of scientific approaches to the study of volunteerism includes disciplinary (philosophical, pedagogical, psychological, historical, legal, economic, sociological) and methodological (system, activity, institutional, community) approaches.
