Abstract

The article analyses efficiency of using Internet memes when teaching a foreign language to junior students of linguistic and non-linguistic training directions. The author examines the problem of students’ motivation to study a foreign language and identifies instrumental and creative sources of motivation. As a means to enhance students’ motivation, the author proposes to use Internet memes, in particular, doggos memes. The researcher presents a definition of the term “meme”, reveals characteristics of this phenomenon and describes doggos memes’ features, which make them an efficient teaching tool.
