Abstract
The author of the article analyses the history of mass culture studies in foreign sociological literature. Mass culture studies are considered in the classical and modern periods of sociology development. The author outlines the works of the authors contributed to the study of this issue from the sociological point of view. The history of mass culture studies is analyzed from two points: development of sociology history and outline of the main characteristics of mass culture as a social event.
