On the basis of the study of the structure and the composition of industrial roll passes, the optimality criterion for a rail calibration circuit was stated. For the formation of the criterion, partial indices of efficiency were used, which included standard technical-economic factors of the operation of rail-rolling production. The factor depends on properties of used passes. The criterion, the before-developed flow chart of rail calibration and the classification structure of rail passes can be used to determine the optimal circuit of roll grooving for rail rolling on a certain rail-rolling mill.
