Abstract

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the methodical approach to comparing the cost of owning a private car and the cost of using a taxi for developing transport policy measures. To achieve this goal, the article analyzes the growth in the number of road transport in the regions of the Russian Federation, shows the prospects for car sharing in the modern digital environment. The authors proposed the composition of the cost of owning a car; then they calculated the total and specific costs of owning a car and using a taxi for the city of Yekaterinburg. The graphical method defines the limiting value of the annual mileage in kilometers, after overcoming of which it is more profitable to use a private car than a taxi service. The results obtained by the authors can be used in the development of transport policy measures aimed at promoting car sharing and reducing the number of personal vehicles on urban roads.
