Abstract

The results of the simulation by the finite element method are presented in the ABAQUS and DEFORM-2D software modules of bimetallic and monometallic billet upsetting. The conclusion is made about the possibility of cavities at the boundary of the layers. The presence of cavities leads to the impossibility of maintaining the pressure backwater. As a result, the use of the shell to increase the plasticity of the metal becomes ineffective.
