Abstract
It is shown that when determining the total power during a harmonic oscillatory process of a solid body, it is not the values of inertial and dissipative powers that are added, but their squares are similar to the reactive and active powers of electrical circuits. A measure of the resistance of an inert body to a source of oscillations, it is a mechanical inert reactance. Mechanical elastic reactance is an appropriate measure for an elastically deformable body.
