The paper is devoted to increasing the efficiency of the cranes control processes for converter production of metallurgical enterprises. The search for effective cranes control algorithms by traditional analytical methods is complicated by the large number of operations with different durations in the production of the different grades steel and the presence of stochastic dependencies in the system. Solution of such problems requires a systematic analysis of the converter production processes, building the models "as is" and "as will", and also holding of the optimization experiments. This approach is proposed to be implemented with the use of simulation techniques in the simulation system AnyLogic and modeling subsystem of the metallurgical enterprise information system. A set of the cranes algorithms has been analyzed based on the developed simulation models and the most effective solution has been found. This solution allows to reduce the load of the cranes and reduce the waiting time before the casting, that in turn improves the quality of products.
