Abstract

This paper presents a genre analysis in works of B. Pasternak «The people and the positions» (1967), I. Ehrenburg «People, years, life» (1960-1963, 1965), V. Kataev «Grass of oblivion» (1967), published in the magazine «New World» in the era of the «thaw». The author explores the memoirs as a separate genre, which has the properties of both nonfiction (set to truth, stable chronology, citation) and fiction (fictionalization of the facts, the style imagery, the system characters, the presence of the author's image, the subjectivity of the narrative). Depending on the target installation author, memories may be more concentrated in the features of an artistic or documentary text. Particular importance is attached to the role of the magazine «New World», thanks to its principles (a true display of events, high quality text and credibility of the author) were able to see the light and take an important place in the literary process of the second half of the twentieth century «an autobiographical sketch» by B. Pasternak, «memoir chronicles» I. Ehrenburg and «novel memory» V. Kataev.
