According to the Federal Service for Environmental, Technical and Nuclear Supervision, the total economic damage from accidents on main gas pipelines amounts to hundreds of millions of rubles a year. Reduction of the accidents likelihood (frequency) can be achieved through the making of technically and economically justified decisions on diagnostics, maintenance and repair of gas pipelines. In the information and control systems that exist and are being implemented by PJSC “Gazprom”, various criteria for justifying the repair are implemented, which take into account the totality of quantitative indicators of the reliability and integrity of main gas pipelines. As investment projects, the repair of gas pipelines should be additionally evaluated in terms of their economic attractiveness. The aim of the study was to introduce a single indicator characterizing the economic efficiency of management decisions for diagnostics, maintenance and repair of gas pipelines, taking into account the costs of their implementation and reducing the aggregate of the probability of accidents and the severity of their possible aftereffects. As a result, the existing and prospective approaches to the development of recommendations for the inclusion of control elements in the gas pipeline repair programs were analyzed. The information and control systems intended for planning measures for the repair of gas pipelines are considered. The possibility of considering repair measures from the point of view of their investment attractiveness is assessed. The result of the work was the procedure for calculating the payback period of the initial investments required to complete the repair. The local information-management system calculated the payback period for the initial investment required for repairs at test sections of the gas pipeline in the area of responsibility of LLC "Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg".
