The article discusses the prospects for the development of fields on the Arctic shelf of the Russian Federation by national vertically integrated oil and gas companies. The development of the Arctic shelf is a strategically important and economically justified area of activity for the development of the Russian economy. The study conducts an analysis of the problems that domestic enterprises, public authorities and scientific organizations face when working in difficult climatic conditions of the Arctic North. The authors draw conclusions and give recommendations to various entities interested in the development of the Arctic zone as part of the program of innovative development of the oil and gas sector, which will significantly reduce the costs associated with the development of the Arctic shelf.
