Abstract
The problem of the serial boom in the Russian mass culture is considered. The series, as a phenomenon of mass culture, attracts not only commercially oriented directors, but also representatives of arthouse cinema. The emergence of new players on the field of serial production is a perspective process that enriches the possibilities of mainstream cinema and the strategies of independent auteur cinematography.
