Abstract

Eadiness of the majority of school graduates to make responsible decisions about their professional future. The goal of the research is to study contemporary views on the requirements for professional self-determination of schoolchildren and to analyze the attitude of the main participants (students, teachers and parents) to the content and terms of career guidance. The main participants in the professional self-determination of schoolchildren are the students themselves, teachers and parents. The concepts of all three categories of participants of the process of career guidance of students at diff erent stages of schooling are studied (by questioning and processing the results using the methods of multivariate data analysis). Respondents from all three groups recognize the need and feasibility of career guidance work at school. At the same time, there are diff erences in views on the beginning of its implementation. Among all respondents (teachers, parents and graduates) the group that chooses the start of career guidance work with student of the 7th to 8th grades prevails. There are more supporters of earlier career guidance among the rest of the teachers. The timing of the choice of the beginning of career guidance work is infl uenced by such factors as school status, gender and level of education. The authors conclude that students should get an idea of the largest possible numbers of professional choice options and the range of possible career trajectories. It is necessary to solve personnel problems through the training of specialists in vocational counseling, as well as the systematic advanced training of all teachers, administrative personnel in the fi eld of vocational guidance for students to eff ectively support the professional self-determination of schoolchildren.
