Subject. The study focuses on economic relations among authorities, economic agents and people in implementing digital technologies and raising up the digital society. Objectives. The study systematizes priorities of economic policy for the development of the digital economy, which underlies a set of measures and actions the government undertakes to make and implement macroeconomic decisions for creating the digital society. Methods. We apply the logic systems approach to analyzing published data. The pool of analyzable data includes websites of national governments that perform promising projects for implementing digital technologies. Results. Analyzing the data, we note that various countries form the digital society goals pursuing rather different goals. The United Kingdom strives to gain global leadership in cyber space, while Germany focuses on digital production. China tries to take lead in high-tech production. The USA is interested in international trade, while Japan aspires to create the human-oriented digital society. The article describes the current program-based activities for raising up the digital society in some countries, such as Singapore, United Kingdom, USA, China, Germany, Japan. Conclusions and Relevance. The Russian Federation implements the most holistic program for developing the digital economy. The Russian program is intended to provide for the knowledge-driven society, raise the public awareness and digital literacy, wellbeing and quality of living, make public services more accessible and robust, and ensure the national security domestically and globally.
