Abstract

The archetype of Eternal Femininity, identified with Sophia, is a universal image of European culture, not excluding Russian. A rather original version of this myth is built up in the works of F. M. Dostoevsky, beginning with his early works. The report examines the embodiment of the author's Sofia plot on the example of the image of Katerina (the story «The Landlady»). The parallels between Dostoevsky‟s cultural mental myth about Sofia and its author‟s reception are revealed, as well as its variability in the poetics of the writer.
