Abstract

The author discusses sociocultural implications of political controversy between the West and the Muslim world. The main reasons for and manifestations of intolerance in the mass culture and mass consciousness of both modern Muslim and Western societies are analyzed. The author argues that because of the increasing threats to global and regional security xenophobia's potential to destabilize the modern world order has increased.
