This article contains a comparative efficiency analysis of online and offline methods of data acquisition on the base of results of mass all-Russian survey «Modern Russian students about the Great Patriotic War»; this survey covers more than 4500 students from more than 60 Russian universities. The author analyzes the filling's peculiarities of open questions and questions with choice, compares the results of offline and online answers for usual questions and provides a comparative analysis of data quality with many parameters by the method of «sliding exam». The comparative analysis of online and offline forms has helped to learn that online forms are filled with better quality and more content (the answers for open questions are full, more variants for the questions with choice). Besides, filling online forms the respondents often refuse to continue survey and usually ask for additional sources of information and sometimes their answers are different with offline informants. The article analyzes the reasons of these differences and makes conclusions about necessary corrections of sociological tools in the cases of online survey research.
