Abstract
The main features of modern television are considered in the article: multichannel broadcasting, audience segmentation, transformation of genres, entertaining orientation, reality virtualization, manipulative influence, abundance of advertising, interactivity. The basic directions of improvement of future journalists' professional training are planned.
