A possibility of using electrodynamic separators with traveling magnetic field in achieving the urgent goal of processing electronic scrap is demonstrated. Alternate design of the separators based on linear inductors and inductors with a rotating magnetic field are discussed. Evaluation of the normal and tangential components of electromagnetic forces affecting the recoverable conductive particles demonstrated that a decrease in the size of the metal particles entails a decrease in the contribution of the normal component of the electromagnetic force to the formation of the particle trajectory. To improve the efficiency of separation of the shredded electronic scrap we propose to use electromagnetic separators with rotating magnetic field and, in addition to increase in the field frequency, enhance the magnetic induction via improvement of the magnetic system.
