Abstract
The article presents a new approach to the philosophy of Ernst Mach, a prominent Austrian positivist; it delves into the biographical sources of his philosophy, and, then, explores the influence of his philosophy upon Russian social democrats (the Bolsheviks); it also identifies typical features of Austrian philosophy within E. Mach's conception.
