The article analyses the role played by mass media which increasingly appropriate the function of producing the new socio-cultural environment - namely, the media reality; as well as the new type of human being, living in a virtual world rather than the physical one. That’s why media education, aiming at the formation of personal mediaculture and the process of socialization, becomes today especially important.
