The subject of the study is wastewater from synthetic phenol-formaldehyde resins production containing free phenol and formaldehyde as highly toxic organic substances. We have studied the process of phenol sorption by carbon-containing sorbents based on soft wood waste (sawdust and hydrolytic lignin) from model solutions under static conditions. The rate constants, activation energy and diffusion coefficients of the phenol sorption from aqueous solutions have been calculated. This enables to identify physical nature of the interaction of phenol with sorbents. The phenol extraction degree by natural organic sorbents is 93-96% wt. The choice of effective sorbent for the production of wood-phenolic raw material mixture from industrial wastes was carried out on the basis of the experimental data. The resulting mixture can be used as a technogenic raw material for the production of wood-polymer thermoplastic structural composites.
