The paper presents a review of the scientific publications of sociologists who studied the features and difficulties of implementing the education of people of the “third age”. It is noted that the questions of the “third age” have been thoroughly studied in Russian science, however, there is a complex of problems that require urgent study and practical solution. The author identified and analyzed several groups of key problems of education of people of the "third age" such as theoretical and methodological, organizational, social, socio-psychological and economic.
