This article offers a cognitive and discursive analysis of the colour yellow. The author offers a brief review of the previous research into colour analysis. The verbal channel ofcreolized British and American rock-discourse constitutes the data for the analysis of the yellow colour. Thus, the subject of the article in question is the most frequently actualized metaphorical models of the colour yellow at the verbal level of British and American rock-lyrics. Consequently, the aim of this research amounts to the comparative analysis of such frequent metaphorical models. Basically, there are two main approaches at the core of the article under consideration. Firstly, it is the method of cognitive discourse analysis, which allows us to study a phenomenon both through a discourse and through its conceptualization in the studied culture (psychophysical, lingo-cultural and lexicographic data). Secondly, it is the creolized text approach, which admits the multi-level nature of a text, allowing us to address levels other than the verbal if necessary. As a result of the following colour analysis, 510 British rock-texts and 485 American ones have been analyzed. However, only 25 and 20 contexts respectively were found to contain “yellow”. These facts indicate low productivity of this lexeme at the verbal level of British and American rock-discourse. Nevertheless, based on the identified contexts, 4 and 2 metaphorical models respectively have been determined at the verbal level of rock-texts of the studied cultures. Also, the author provides an analysis of the conceptual model of the colour yellow in British and American cultures.
