Resumen

The article aims to carry out an analysis of the mechanisms of the development of oral communication skills in a foreign language. When teaching oral communication in a foreign language, it is necessary to take into account the current situation of intercultural communication, where communication between representatives of different countries has acquired special relevance, especially when we are talking about communication in English. In connection with this trend, the development of communication skills should take place at a qualitatively different level. The article reveals the content of the concept of intercultural communication. The author proposes an innovative way to develop oral communication skills in English. This method is interactive and is based on the model of speech situations. The author focuses on the identification of the interrelation between foreign language acquisition and intercultural communication. The article presents the results of the detailed analysis of this innovative way of the development of communication skills in English. The author describes the use of proposed method in the educational process in the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin. The article also deals with the question of the relevance of this method in teaching English at the faculty of international relations.
