In regional media space discourses with the semantic dominant of “Ekaterinburg is the capital” namely “the third capital”, “capital of Eurasia”, “capital of the Urals” is formed. Each of these semantic spaces focuses the key meanings in a special way, paying attention to notions of life in the capital, its outlook. In the discourse of “Yekaterinburg is the third capital” the ideas of semantic features “rich city”, “center for the implementation of major projects”, “city with an active cultural life”, “city with a special appearance”, “clean city” are focused. In the discourse of “Ekaterinburg is the capital of Eurasia” focus is on different other semantic features: “developing center”, “city with active youth”, “city with a unique geographical objects”, “large transport hub”, “place of geopolitical, spiritual, cultural amalgamation of Europe and Asia”. The salience of the key meanings is achieved through specific mechanisms and depends on the characteristics of the chronotope of discourses: binding to a specific territory, the period of existence, of meaning and specific foreign policy orientation of the region.
