Resumen
The article deals with the development of human thinking from the concrete perception of the physical world to the perception of abstract entities drawing on the example of classical and non-classical predicates of partitive semantics. To consider the semantics of partial predicates and predicates with an insufficiently marked meaning «to become part of a whole», the method of componential analysis of the word definition is used. The study of partitive meanings in the specific verbal aspect allows to determine the degree of their cognitive prominence. Drawing on certain examples, the author shows the possibility of revealing the meaning «to become part of a whole» in a number of predicates of non-partitive semantics. In particular, the article touches upon the issues of lexical semantics and attempts to give new definitions to the predicates in question. It appears that the results obtained in the course of the research will contribute to the existing theories about semantic relations between lexical units in the language.
