Profile Information

The Faculty of History is an internationally recognized center for historical research and education in the vast Ural and Siberian region. Main topics of current research include «Modernization and Transfer of Innovations in Russia», «Comparative History of Russian Regions», «Social History», «Historical Demography».

Our most important international partners are University Paris-I Pantheon-Sorbonne (France), University Rennes-2 (France), Lorand Eotvos University (Hungary) and others.

The Faculty offers several 3-year Doctoral Programs:

• History of Russia.
• World History.
• Records Management and Archive Studies.

The Faculty also hosts 3 research laboratories:

• Laboratory for Studying Primary Sources (www.hist-lab.ru)
• “International Demographic Unit” Laboratory (www.idun.urfu.ru)
• Laboratory of Archaeography, which possesses one of the world’s largest collections of Russian early-printed books and manuscripts (17 – 19th centuries). (lai.urfu.ru)

International Center for Russian Studies (ICRH) is a means of cooperation for the international partners, researchers and students. ICRH is responsible for publishing Quaestio Rossica, the research journal (www.qr.urfu.ru) in Russian, English, French, and German. In addition, ICRH offers 2 MA Programs in History in the English language.
