Profile Information

The Faculty of Philology is an internationally recognized center of language and literature studies. Its diversified academic staff includes world-renowned experts, scholars and professors ready to impart their fundamental knowledge on linguistic theory and the related applied fields, such as ethno-, socio-, onto-, and psycho-linguistics, onomastics, cultural linguistics etc. The curricular offerings in Russian and Foreign literature studies comprise a wide chronological range of subjects – from folkloristics to specific features of modern literary process – and include inquiries into the evolution of aesthetic consciousness in literature, strategies of creative behavior, narratology and sociology of literature, popular literature studies, and so on.

Particular attention is paid to the questions of language and literature teaching methodology (including Russian as a foreign language), translation studies, as well as encouraging scholarly research, as part of our graduates' professional profile.

All courses offered by the Faculty provide ample opportunities to master communication skills in Russian or one of the three major European languages (English, German, French), foster inter-cultural awareness and multilingual competence to ensure the graduates' employability in global environments.
