The study raises the problem of reducing the activity of educational activities and the "mood" of students in the context of distance learning. Online education has become commonplace in an unfavorable epidemiological situation. The participants of the educational process were not prepared for such a format of training in the near future. Therefore, there are problems that violate the stability of the entire training. And as a result, a decrease in the "mood" of students at the university. The purpose of the study is to suggest and justify ways to improve the "mood" of students. To achieve the goal, the essence of the students' "mood" was studied through the "social mood". Three main indicators are identified: engagement as active work, academic performance, and the quality of the assessment system. Based on these indicators and the results of the study of the Higher School of Economics and Tyumen State University, an assessment of the "mood" of students was carried out. Negative parameters turned out to be more positive, which indicates a reduced "mood". Based on this, ways to increase the "mood" for each indicator were proposed. At the same time, digital tools are offered for implementing the presented methods. For example, gaming technologies and virtual simulators. Thus, ways to increase the "mood" of students in conjunction with digital tools will help to involve them in the educational process, improve academic performance and the quality of assessment. Further research will be aimed at determining the optimal time for studying the discipline and assessing the impact of online consultations on student motivation.
