Public transport plays a huge role in the life of a modern person because it helps get to the desired destination quickly and cheaply. However, traffic jams have a significant impact on the speed of transportation. The current article simulates and analyzes a virtual public network in order to assess the impact of traffic congestion on the travel time of public transport. The study obtains the following results: the average time spent by a public transport vehicle under study on weekdays exceeds the average time in the corresponding time intervals of the weekend. The results are due to the fact that traffic is lower on weekends. Also, the study establishes the dependence of the average time of completing a route from the time of switching of traffic lights: the rout completion time grows approximately with the exponential rate with increasing duration of switching of the red light and reducing the duration of the green light.
