FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic and accelerating techniques for increasing the electrical and mechanical strength of vacuum-tight input windows and/or output of microwave radiation energy into waveguide accelerating structures and can be used to create/operate powerful modern electron accelerators. Simultaneous increase of electric and mechanical strength of dielectric windows of input/output of microwave radiation is achieved by applying a protective coating on one or both surfaces of the window in the form of an adhesive layer based on polyvinyl acetate in a thickness of 1.5–2 mm, which has small values of secondary and photoelectronic emission coefficients, high adhesion to dielectric materials and high vacuum strength properties. Mechanical strength of vacuum-tight windows of input/output of microwave radiation is also ensured when it is lost as a result of thermal, electrical and microwave breakdowns or their total impact. EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the electrical and mechanical strength of vacuum-tight windows of input/output of microwave radiation into the accelerating structures of electronic accelerators and thereby increasing the reliability of their operation, prolongation of periods of trouble-free operation, as well as restoration of the serviceability of failed microwave windows, saving material and time resources with ease of implementation of the proposed method.
