The article talks about the problem of increasing the cost of investment and construction projects in the process of their implementation. Exceeding the project budget is a common problem in the capital-intensive construction industry. The implementation of a construction project within the budget without loss of its quality is the main goal of the investor. The reason for the rise in the cost of the project is both external and internal risks. As part of the study, an analysis of these risks was carried out according to the hierarchical structure of RBS. With the help of an expert survey, an assessment of the frequency of risks and the severity of their consequences was carried out. The risks of increasing the cost of the project relate to risk adjustments and are considered when calculating net present income. Information modeling of construction objects or BIM can serve as a risk reduction tool. Analysis of the impact of BIM technologies on the main risks of the project showed that with the help of these technologies, it is possible to reduce most of the risks that lead to an increase in the cost of the project, which, in turn, will contribute to improving the economic efficiency of the project. The results of the study confirmed the hypothesis that the introduction of BIM technologies reduces the risk of a rise in the cost of the project during construction.
