Аннотация
This paper is devoted to evaluating the influence of parental age and educational level on cognitive and communicative development in children under two years of age. In this study the control group contained 102 normative full-term children aged 5 months to 2 years, the experimental group consisted of 64 health preterm children of the same age. The cognitive development, receptive and expressive communication were assessed in both groups via Bayley Scales (Third edition). The visual search in social and non-social context was assessed by using eye-tracker system. All parents filled out questionnaires, where they indicated their age and educational level. It was found that parents of premature children are older and have a lower level of education compared to parents of full-term participants. A positive correlation was obtained between fathers' educational level and percentage of simple non-social visual search trials performed in experimental group. A negative correlation was obtained between mothers' education and reaction time for faces in control group. Fathers' age was positively correlated with expressive communication in normative children.
