Description

The project involves the study of cohabitation practices and close communication of a new type in the modernization of Russian society, as well as their representation in the works of mass culture. The aim of the project is to identify the relationship between close social relations and professional self-realization, the creative productivity of the so-called "Creative class" (for example, artists, intellectuals, IT-specialists and other professional groups). We assume that in the next few years we will observe and are already observing a reconfiguration of familiar social ties in Russian society: the legacy of the Soviet collectivist habit, interacting with global trends in the transformation of behavior patterns, leads to the emergence of special types of compatibility, whose specific feature is the blurring of a clear border between private and public spaces. According to Boltanski and Chiapello, in a “project-oriented city” for successful activities it is important to build trustful and reliable social ties not only with close relatives, but also with business partners and colleagues. However, the paradox of this decree is the need to quickly rebuild, be mobile, break old ties and create new ones in an open and uncertain future. In this project, we are interested in what such a format of existence brings under the conditions of uncertainty and unrootedness to the quality of close social relations that brings a new dimension. Does the concept of love and friendship change? Are the practices of being together changing? which of the old models of social relations remains relevant, and what is leaving? How do close social ties become the content of a common cause, and how is this process connected with the “regime of self-realization"? A critical analysis of modern practices of friendship and love in a creative environment can help establish more adequate institutional forms, sharpened by other ethical standards. A comparative analysis of cultural practices will help to find ways to transfer some practices to others, the continuity between them, and therefore to understand how the adaptation mechanisms of modern Russian people work and where the source of inhibition of modernization processes is located.
