The effect of surface plastic deformation by sliding friction on the structure and mechanical properties of copper- beryllium composition BrBNiTi1,7 aging alloy is studied. It is established that after strengthening dispersion hardening (quenching from 780 °С and subsequent aging at 320 °С), the final friction treatment of tape samples according to the “fixed indenters-sliding blank” scheme leads to increase in strength properties (microhardness), as well as increase in technological plasticity (the number of alternating bends). X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy of structure showed that in addition to the matrix α -solid solution, certain amount of insoluble intermetallic γ -phase (CuBe) is fixed in the quenched state. Friction treatment contributes to the formation of finely dispersed nanocrystalline-scale structure in the surface layer. The formation of such structural state is caused by the implementation of the deformation combined mechanism, which includes the shear and rotational models of plastic forming.
