The scheme of operation and testing of magnesium balls by the action of liquid under pressure is considered. The similarity of the scheme with the hydroextrusion process is emphasized. The formulation of the simulation problem was carried out in the Deform 2D software module. The strain and strain rate, average normal stress, and stress state are calculated. It was revealed that the deformation is localized at the periphery of the ball. The stress state is more favorable on the periphery than in the center of the ball. It is concluded that destruction can occur either in the form of surface cracks, which may not be a defect, or in the form of a ball breaking into separate fragments, which is sometimes observed during testing and is facilitated by the fact that cast alloys that do not withstand large plastic deformation are often used to make balls.
