The article considers the goldfield place names of the Urals before the October Revolution in the context of regional social culture. The analysis shows the effect of linguistic material in relation to objects of gold-mining of several branches of naming tradition. One of them is related to the whole-people culture and is explicated by attribution of conception on the spatial arrangement of objects and on private property rights. Another line is attributed of attitudes and axiological guidelines of public administration activity. Special tradition dates back to the confessional naming and correlated with the priorities of faith, which are common in the field of risky business. Culture of prospector’s mines itself, with behavioural rules, heroes, legends, superstitions, which are inherent in it, is one more stratum of views that are actualized in the nomination. Goldfield place names, which are discussed in the historical dynamics, show the dependence of the changing socio-cultural context. In particular, with the development of bourgeois relations, the transition from the models, which are formed in the traditions of folk and “administrative” naming, to the style of the individual nominative advertising has been marked. Originality of proper names and uniqueness of language material names generally allow putting the question of popularizing the theme “gold names” and their possible use in the image on the territory of the narrative, which is addressed to both internal and external audience.
