Объединение Германии и внешнеполитическая позиция России (1862-1871)

科研成果: Article

The article considers the foreign policy positions of Russia in regard to the unification of Germany in 1862-1871. The causes of the Russian policy of benevolent neutrality toward Prussia in the period under review and the factual support of O. von Bismarck’s plans on unification of Germany by military means by Russian diplomacy are considered in details. Special attention is paid to the political situation in Europe during the Austro-Prussian (1866) and Franco-Prussian (1870-1871) wars. The article analyses principles of formation of Russian foreign policy in 1860-1870-ies. The differences between Emperor Alexander II and Minister of foreign affairs A. M. Gorchakov are shown in determining the country’s foreign policy in relation to the unification of Germany. The question is raised about the political motives of the actions of the head of the Prussian government and the German Chancellor O. von Bismarck, aimed at establishing friendly relations with the Russian Empire. It is concluded that the German direction of Russian foreign policy in the period under review was subordinated to Imperial objectives of preservation of Poland in the Russian state and restoration of positions in the Black sea basin lost during the Crimean war of 1853-1856.
